Assessing Death Anxiety and its Correlates among Community Dwelling Elderly

This descriptive study was designed to appraise the prevalence of death anxiety and its correlates among older adult. It conducted on 150 elderly residents district Sargodha, who were chosen through multistage sampling. Interview Schedule, Death Anxiety Scale-15, Coping Style Scale used as instruments. The findings indicated a pervasive elderly. majority reported moderate level slightly less than one forth revealed lower anxiety. results T-test analysis showed no variation gender wise community According research findings, both men women experienced same However, illiterate exhibited more compared literate regarding factors associated with indicates that fear being aged, loneliness, worry about leaving loved ones behind, destroyed decaying dead body after death, lack religiosity, self esteem poor physical conditions correlated caused Moreover, chi square age, qualification, family structure, number members (family size) marital status had significant association In case coping, are prone adopt emotion focused coping rather problem solving coping. To alleviate in adults, it is necessary manage contributing factors.
